    Developing Peace: The Four Immeasurables

    4_immeasurables.png

"Compassion and love are not mere luxuries.  As the source both of inner and external peace, they are fundamental to the continued survival of our species."

    ~His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Sustaining both internal and external peace is one of the biggest challenges we face in today’s world.  One of the simplest (though not easy) and powerful methods to help in this effort is “The Four Immeasurables,” which are found in traditional Buddhist, Yogic and Hindu - as well as in more modern -teachings.

In this course we will explore these immeasurable expressions of love and learn to use them – through meditation and life practices – to help bring peace into our lives and our world.

May everyone have happiness and its causes,
May everyone be free of suffering and its causes,
May everyone never be separated from happiness without suffering,
May everyone be in equanimity, free of bias, attachment and anger.

    Mondays – August 14 through September 25
(No class on Monday September 4 – Labor Day)

Sliding scale from $120 to $160 (includes audio recording of all classes)
Note: Drop-ins allowed for first 3 classes only ($20 per class, which will be deducted from the total if you sign up for the course).

Please pay at the highest level of the sliding scale that you can afford. This helps us make sure those who pay less can attend. Whatever you pay above the lowest end of the sliding scale is a tax-deductible donation to Middle Way LA. No one will be turned away due to inability to pay. If you are unable to pay, please contact us.

    One Bright Hour

    One Bright Hour

“Where do we go from here: Chaos or Community?” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

Amidst the difficulties and divisions that face our country and the world, join us to create a space of refuge and a spirit of hope. Each of us is an unbounded source of inner wisdom and love, with enough power to heal ourselves and those around us. These innate qualities can be awakened and strengthened by gathering together with an intention to meaningfully connect with others in an open and inclusive way.

Everyone is welcome at this hour of meditation, reflection and conversation aimed at growing our capacity to love and act wisely, even in this most trying of times.
